Build the plan around a real business

Forming a company does not create work permission by itself.

L-1A and L-1B

Executive, managerial or specialized-knowledge transfers; new offices need operational evidence.

E-1 and E-2

Treaty trade and investment, limited to treaty nationalities. E-2 is not a green card.

E-3

Eligible Australian specialty-occupation professionals; not EB-3.

What to bring

Ownership records, financial statements, organizational charts, contracts and a plan for the U.S. operation, with source of funds for investments.

Proposed legal fee

L-1 $7,000–$12,000; new-office L-1 $9,000–$15,000; E-1/E-2 $7,000–$12,000; E-3 $3,500–$6,000. Government charges and screening are separate.

Can family members work?

It depends on the dependent classification and current rules.
